GD-511 Gun Lube
Synthetic
|
- Applications
-
GD-511 Gun Lube is designed for two purposes: a protectant of the metal surfaces against rust; * a grease for users who want to avoid the potential staining of skin and clothes caused by the molybdenum disulfide in our GD-525 Moly Grease. Do not use GD-511 to lube the bore; use GD-570 instead.
Note, apply a “light” film of lube--it should be applied only to the extent necessary to cover the surface. Specs of the lube should not be seen. In other words, if one saw the lube on the surface, too much would have been applied.
*Rust is a form of corrosion. Bluing is a technique that provides limited resistance to corrosion. Therefore, metal parts should be coated with a very thin film of grease, like GD-511 or even oil, like GD-770.
- Benefits
GD-511 Gun Lube contains PTFE and a rust inhibitor, among other additives. Both the rust inhibitor and PTFE, in combination with the thickener, protect the metal surfaces from rust in two ways. First, the PTFE fills in the microscopic pores of the metal. Second, the grease forms a strong film on the surface and stays there even when handling the firearm. PTFE provides a very high degree of lubricity that makes it an excellent general purpose gun lube.

- How To Use
-
Smear a thin file of the lube on the metal parts with one's fingers. It is best to use a latex glove to prevent the lube from adhering to the skin. Use a Q-tip to reach crevices. As a gun grease, use GD-511 on the action parts of the firearms. For locations unable to reach by hand, we recommend using drops of GD-770 Home-n-Office Oil* applied with a needle point applicator, such as GD-902 or any other suitable applicator.
*GD-711 Moly Gun Oil is offered to those who prefer to use a moly oil.
- Warranty and Safety
- Guard Dog warrants GD-511 to conform to published typical observations. GD-511 is safe to use when normal precautions are taken, as with any lubricating product. A Material Safety Data Sheet is available upon request.
